Los Angeles city and county firefighters have stopped the forward progress of a brush fire in the Angeles Forest in Tujunga at one-and-a-half acres of grass.
The fire started near 2131 Stonyvale Road and was reported at 3:44 p.m., according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.
The fire caused the Stonyvale Picnic site to be evacuated, officials said.
The Los Angeles City Fire Department sent both ground and air resources, including water-dropping helicopters, to help county firefighters battle the blaze, fire department spokesman Brian Humphrey said.
Firefighters will remain on scene to handle any hotspots that might flare up, county fire officials said.
No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire remained under investigation.
