Two women and two children were killed Friday in a crash involving a big rig and a car in Lancaster.

The crash, which left a black sedan crumpled and the big rig’s cab overturned, occurred at 9:11 a.m. at the intersection of East Avenue G and North 30th Street East, according to the Los Angeles County Fire Department.

One woman died at the scene of the crash. Authorities initially reported that four other people — including two children — had been taken to hospitals in critical condition.

California Highway Patrol officials subsequently told reporters the two children and another woman had died at the hospital. The children were both boys, one aged 10 or 11, and the other about 7 to 9, according to the CHP.

There was also no immediate word on the cause of the deadly crash.

A SigAlert was issued at 10:40 a.m. by the CHP, with Avenue G between 30th Street East and 20th Street East blocked for the crash investigation.

The crash was being investigated by CHP’s Lancaster office.
