Two people were critically injured when they were struck by a vehicle and became trapped underneath it in South Los Angeles Thursday evening.

The collision occurred about 8:35 p.m. in the area of 8539 S. Vermont Ave., near Manchester Avenue and the Harbor (110) Freeway, according to Margaret Stewart of the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The two pedestrians were taken to a hospital in critical condition.

The Los Angeles Police Department was investigating the cause of the collision. No further details were released.
