Sheriff’s deputies pursuing a wanted felon in a vehicle Saturday evening shot him when the chase ended in Downey.

The shooting occurred about 7:45 p.m. in the 9500 block of Raviller Drive, said Deputy Alejandra Parra of the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department’s Information Bureau.

The wounded man was taken to a hospital by paramedics, Parra said. His condition was not available.

“Weapons were recovered at the scene,” she said. No deputies were injured.

The pursuit reportedly began at Pioneer Boulevard and Los Nietos Road in Santa Fe Springs, according to FOX11.

The deputies from the Norwalk Sheriff’s Station pursued the vehicle until it crashed in the residential neighborhood and the suspect ran toward a house, ABC7 reported. He was shot as he entered the house.

Information on when and where the pursuit began, the nature of the felony and the suspect’s name were not immediately available.
