A renowned chef will be joining Morongo Casino Resort & Spa staff in welcoming job applicants to a mixer Sunday intended to find candidates who can work in the kitchen preparing his international cuisine.
Chef Fabio Viviani will be sitting down with prospects between noon and 2 p.m. to talk about the flavorful selections he and his understudies have created for the new Marketplace food hall, according to the Cabazon-based resort.
“I can’t wait to meet all the impressive candidates for the incredible and delicious Marketplace experience,” Viviani said. “Morongo and I are going to take Southern California dining to the next level, which will require a next-level team to deliver only the best experiences for our guests.”
Viviani, who is Italian, has made multiple television appearances, written cook books and operated his own restaurants.
The Marketplace will open at the beginning of May, and over the last eight months, Morongo has been seeking qualified applicants to staff the food court, as well as other segments of the resort.
Nearly 200 positions are available throughout the resort, and candidates selected to work in the Marketplace may be eligible for signing bonuses of up to $1,000, officials said.
“Marketplace diners will pay a single fee to experience dishes from Italy, Mexico, Brazil and regions across South America, Asia and the Southern United States,” according to a resort statement.
“Mercato Centrale will offer delicious Italian fare; Al Comal will provide Mexican and South American sensations; and Pescato will be an oasis for seafood lovers, including an oyster bar and fresh fish.”
Slots are open for line cooks, servers, hosts and others, according to the resort.
Officials noted that Morongo “offers competitive wages and benefits,” including “medical, dental and vision insurance options for full-time team members and dependents.” Jobs additionally feature 401K retirement plans and vacation time.
