A gas line rupture in San Jacinto Monday prompted a precautionary evacuation of multiple residences in a neighborhood just north of Highway 74.

The gas leak was reported shortly before 11 a.m. in the area of Ametista Drive and Topazio Place, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.

Several engine crews were sent to the location and detected natural gas odors near a residence, though the precise location of the leak couldn’t be immediately determined.

Firefighters requested assistance from sheriff’s deputies to evacuate seven homes as a safety precaution, according to the fire department.

There were no reports of injuries.

Technicians from SoCal Gas were summoned to investigate the leak and make whatever repairs were necessary.
