Orange County authorities were seeking witnesses Wednesday to determine what happened to a 50-year-old woman found badly burned near a vehicle fire on the San Joaquin Hills (73) toll road.
Authorities were called about 8:40 p.m. Tuesday to put out the vehicle fire in the northbound lanes of the toll road, just south of El Toro Road, and found the victim, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Steve Concialdi.
The woman, whose name was not released, suffered burns over 27 percent of her body, Concialdi said. She was taken to Western Medical Center in Santa Ana, where she’s listed in serious condition, the captain said.
“We’re asking for anybody who witnessed anything to please call our investigation section at (714) 573-6709. We know people were driving by and saw something,” he said.
