A high school Spanish teacher accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old boy is expected to appear in a Santa Ana court Friday.
Ezequiel Christopher Barragan, 48, of Aliso Viejo, allegedly was a volunteer with court appointed Special Advocate, a nonprofit that helps abused and neglected children, when he met the child.
He sexually assaulted the boy between August 2012 and February, and is also accused of possessing child pornography depicting 12 to 16-year-old boys, says the Orange County District Attorney’s Office, the Orange County Register reported.
Barragan taught Spanish at Dana Hills High School in Dana Point and coached youth baseball in several leagues at the junior high and high school level for 20 years, according to the newspaper.
He has been charged with four felony counts of performing lewd acts on a child under 14 years old, three felony counts of performing lewd acts on a child between 14 and 15, and one felony count for possession of child pornography, with an enhancement for substantial sexual conduct with a child, the Register reported.
Barragan faces up to 16 and a half years in state prison. He is being held in lieu of $500,000 bail.
The Orange County District Attorney’s office is seeking potential victims of Barragan’s.
