A 25-year-old Garden Grove man was behind bars Tuesday on suspicion of fatally stabbing his stepbrother.

Andres Adolfo Serrat was booked on suspicion of murder in the stabbing death of 20-year-old Donte Barcalo, according to Garden Grove police Lt. Bob Bogue.

Police responded to a call about a “family fight” at a home at 13200 Casa Linda Lane at 6:12 p.m. Monday, Bogue said.

A “verbal argument” — the subject matter was not disclosed — escalated into a physical conflict, and Barcalo was stabbed in the chest and side, Bogue said.

Serrat was found by police a few blocks away, according to Bogue, who said police recovered the knife used in the stabbing.

Serrat was being held in lieu of $1 million bail, according to jail records.
