An 18-year-old Irvine man was behind bars Friday on suspicion of a residential break-in that was interrupted by the residents.
Brendan Taylor Filice was booked on suspicion of residential burglary and was being held at the Orange County Jail in lieu of $50,000 bail, said Farrah Emami of the Irvine Police Department.

Officers were called to the home — the address was not disclosed — about 5:15 a.m. A resident told police she woke up and saw the suspect standing in her bedroom taking something from her nightstand, Emami said.
The woman roused her husband, who confronted the burglar, who ran out of the house through a back door, Emami said.
The couple have two children who were sleeping elsewhere in the home at the time, Emami said.
Police caught the suspect in the neighborhood a few hours later, Emami said, and recovered an iPhone and laptop computer stolen from the family’s home. The items were found in a backpack the suspect was wearing, she said.
