A man and woman were arrested Wednesday following a high-speed pursuit that ended with a crash in Garden Grove.
The chase started when a Garden Grove police officer spotted a silver Mercedes speeding south on Knott Street about 9:30 a.m., police said. The driver refused to pull over and led police on a chase that continued on Knott to the westbound Garden Grove (22) Freeway, police said.
The chase continued north on the San Diego (405) Freeway before the driver exited north on Seal Beach Boulevard, where the pursuit ended as the car slammed into a raised concrete divider at Lampson Avenue, police said.
The car’s driver and a passenger jumped out of the vehicle in an attempt to get away, but they were later arrested, police said.
The alleged driver, 31-year-old Jorge Marquez of Santa Ana, was booked on suspicion of evading police and various narcotics violations, police said.
The alleged passenger — Tania Rivas, 36, of Stanton — was arrested but not booked, police said.
