A bomb threat directed at Golden West College’s library in Huntington Beach Tuesday prompted authorities to evacuate the building and call in explosives experts.

Huntington Beach police were called at 11:29 a.m. about the bomb threat, which was made in a chat room, according to Officer Jennifer Marlatt.

An Orange County sheriff’s bomb-sniffing dog did not find anything in the library and an all-clear was declared about two hours later, Marlatt said.

It was not immediately clear if the suspect who made the threat “logged on in the library or logged into the chat room from somewhere else,” she said.

Investigators will check the IP address where the threat originated to see if it came from a computer in the library, Marlatt said.

The threat indicated there was a bomb in a book, but no other details, Marlatt said.
