OC Supervisors want to give reward to tipster who helped catch jail escapees

Two Orange County supervisors filed a request to present rewards to the tipster who provided information leading to the capture of two inmates who escaped from the Central Men’s Jail.

Supervisors Todd Spitzer and Andrew Do filed a report to be considered at Tuesday’s board meeting stating that Matthew Charles Hay-Chapman provided the specific information that led to the apprehension of Hossein Nayeri and Jonathan Tieu.

The Board of Supervisors will determine the amount of money Hay-Chapman will receive. Spitzer authored a motion, seconded by Do, offering a reward of up to $50,000 for information leading to the capture of each escapee.
