An 18-year-old man who had pushed his mother out of her car and fled with his 16-year-old sister against her will was chased by Garden Grove police Monday afternoon before being captured in Orange.

Shortly before 4 p.m., officers were dispatched to Gilbert Street and Orangewood Avenue for an incomplete 911 call with a woman screaming in the background.

Officers were not immediately able to figure out what had happened– language was a problem in the communication, said Lt. Bob Bogue of the Garden Grove Police Department.

But police tried to stop a vehicle and pursed the car through Anaheim before losing sight of the car in the area of Brookhurst Street and Ball Road. Then the car was located in Orange, and an officer stopped the car and the suspect was arrested.

Azael Gonzales was arrested on multiple charges, including car-jacking, kidnapping and felony evading.
