Four firefighters were hurt Friday battling a brush fire in Coto de Caza and briefly threatened some homes before crews got the upper hand.
None of the firefighter injuries sustained life-threatening injuries, according to the Orange County Fire Authority, which reported that the blaze blackened 20 acres.
OCFA Capt. Larry Kurtz said the fire, which was reported at 11:22 a.m. at 17 Tortoise Shell, initially threatened some houses. The cause of the blaze, which was contained by 2:15 p.m., was under investigation, but it’s not considered suspicious, he said.
About 70 firefighters attacked the flames from the air and on ground, Kurtz said.
