Two 18-year-old men were arrested on suspicion of burglary in Irvine after a resident tipped off the authorities about their suspicious behavior, police said Friday.
Officers went to the 3000 block of Myrtle Street around 1:30 p.m. Thursday following a woman’s tip and observed two men exiting a home that had just been burglarized, police said.
Officers quickly detained one man, Kolin Javae Johnson, while the other fled on foot, police said. Johnson was found in possession of two handguns, one of which belonged to owners of the burglarized residence, police said.
The second man, Billie Ray Lorthridge, was found hiding in some bushes in Tustin a short time later and was taken into custody without further incident, police said, adding that property stolen from the residence and burglary tools were recovered from the suspects.
Lorthridge and Johnson, both of Compton, were arrested on suspicion of burglary and conspiracy. Johnson also faces charges of possession of a loaded firearm and carrying a concealed firearm while Lorthridge will face a charge of resisting arrest, police said.
