An assistant water polo and swimming coach at Kennedy High School in the small Orange County town of La Palma west of Buena Park faces allegations of sexually assaulting 14- to 16- year-old girls.

Joshua Christopher Owens, 23, of La Palma, was out on bail Wednesday after being arrested on suspicion of molesting an unspecified number of victims, according to Buena Park Police Department Sgt. Mike Lovchik.

Owens was released from the city’s jail after posting $75,000 bail, Lovchik said.

Investigators suspect there may be more alleged victims and asked anyone with relevant information to call Detective Todd Franssen at (714) 562-3963.

Owens coached at Kennedy High School in the 2014-15 and 2015-16 school years, Lovchik said. He is accused of molesting the victims during those school years, according to Lovchik.

Owens, who was arrested Monday, worked as a seasonal lifeguard with the Long Beach Fire Department’s Marine Safety Division this year, Lovchik said.
