The project is the final phase of improvements to the preschool through eighth grade school that date back 15 years.
The construction will include a new Saint Serra Chapel and a two-story Student Creation Center/Administration building, said diocese spokesman Ryan Lilyengren.
Vann described the expansion as a blessing.
“I am blessed to join with the St. Serra School family in beginning perhaps the most important building project in their history, the establishment of a chapel,” Vann said. “This project also demonstrates the incredible vibrancy and growth of our diocese and its educational system.”
The Student Creation Center will feature “collaborative learning and the arts,” Lilyengren said.
The building also will include administrative offices and a “volunteer parent hub,” he said.
The 22,000-square-foot project is expected to cost $9 million and be open by the fall of next year.
