A 19-year-old Santa Ana resident was behind bars Wednesday on suspicion of gunning down a man in a parking lot of a bar.

Augustin Ceja was booked on suspicion of murder in the shooting death of 27-year-old Mauricio Martinez of Tustin, according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

The victim was found outside the Casa Del Rey Bar at 230 W. Warner Ave. just after midnight Tuesday and was pronounced dead at the scene at 12:24 a.m., Bertagna said.

Ceja and Martinez got into an argument in the parking lot that escalated, he said. The two were not previously acquainted and Bertagna did not know the nature of the dispute.

Neither man had any gang ties, he said.

Ceja, who was born in Chicago and spent most of his life in Mexico, was being held on $1 million bail, Bertagna said.
