Santa Ana police released surveillance video Thursday in the hopes it would lead to the arrest of two robbery suspects.

Santa Ana police surveillance video.

Two men robbed a Motel 6 at 1623 E. 1st St. about 7:15 p.m., Wednesday, and then about five minutes later they robbed a 76 gas station at 1502 E. Edinger Ave., according to Santa Ana police Cpl. Anthony Bertagna.

At the motel, the knife-wielding men jumped over the lobby desk demanding cash, Bertagna said. The robbers took the cash and fled, Bertagna said.

Minutes later they made a stop at the gas station where they bought $10 in gas and then asked the clerk if that would be enough to get them to Long Beach, Bertagna said. When the men tried to buy cigarettes, he clerk asked them for IDs, which angered them and triggered another robbery as they demanded cash from the register, Bertagna said.

Again, the men grabbed cash and fled in a black Toyota Rav4, which could be from the 2005 model year, Bertagna said.

One suspect is a Latino man about 18 to 20 years old, about 5-feet-3 and around 140 pounds. He wore a white Adidas cap and a gray “Primitive” brand jacket, Bertagna said.

The other suspect is a Latino man about 19 years old, 6 feet tall and around 190 pounds. He wore a white T-shirt and black shorts.

Anyone with information was asked to call detectives at (714) 245-8545 or email asilva@santa-ana-org. Orange County Crime Stoppers will take anonymous tips at (855) TIP-OCCS.
