Skeletal remains found in San Clemente were determined Friday to be human.
The remains were found and reported by a biologist about 2:10 p.m. Thursday in the area of Camino Vera Cruz and Avenida Pico.
A forensic anthropologist was sent to the scene Friday to examine the remains, concluding that they were indeed human, sheriff’s officials said. There was no immediate information on how long the remains may have been there.
The investigation will be taken over by sheriff’s homicide detectives.
The hillside area has been blocked off to the public while the investigation continues.
