Mystery surrounded the after-midnight shooting of a woman Friday at a motel in Santa Ana, as the victim refused to cooperate with police.
The gunfire was reported around 1 a.m. in the 2100 block of East First Street, said Santa Ana police Cmdr. Matt Brown, adding that the woman suffered a gunshot wound to the upper body and was taken to a hospital in stable condition. The woman was refusing to cooperate with police, he added.
Police established a perimeter around the scene and searched for the suspect but no one was found, Brown said.
It wasn’t immediately clear where the shooting occurred at the motel or what the motive behind the shooting was. No other injuries were reported.
