A blaze erupted Wednesday near the origin of the Canyon Fire 2, but it is considered an “island” in the charred area of the massive brusher.
The fire broke out about 12:15 p.m. near Gypsum Canyon Road and the 241 toll road, according to Orange County Fire Authority Capt. Larry Kurtz.
“It’s deep in the burn area” of the blaze that charred 9,200 acres and destroyed 25 structures, Kurtz said. “It’s a little island burning in the middle of (Canyon Fire 2).”
