Anaheim investigators Tuesday released surveillance video of a body being dumped in the city in the hopes it helps detectives track down the victim’s killer.

Police were called to the 1600 block of South Sinclair Street when a body was found near a trash bin in the early hours of Jan. 16, Anaheim Police Sgt. Daron Wyatt said. The victim was 26-year-old Brian Alfredo Mendez, who lived in Anaheim, Wyatt said.

Mendez was shot multiple times, Wyatt said.

Surveillance video from the area shows a light-colored Chevrolet SUV, with two suspects in it, dumping the body just before midnight on Jan. 15, Wyatt said.

Mendez was associated with the Mexican Mafia gang, so detectives are investigating whether the slaying was gang-related, Wyatt said.

Anyone with information was asked to call Orange County Crime Stoppers, which accepts anonymous tips, at (855) TIP-OCCS. Anyone with a tip leading to an arrest may receive a $1,000 reward.
