Two male suspects died and two other people were injured Thursday in Anaheim after their vehicle crashed head-on into another vehicle during a pursuit with the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.
Deputies responded to a call about suspicious activity at 12:40 p.m. Thursday on the 1900 block of Ridgeview Road, according spokesperson Jaimee Blashaw.
Authorities went to make contact with three suspects in a gray Ford Focus who were possibly involved in a burglary, but they fled the scene, Blashaw told City News Service.
During the pursuit — which lasted four minutes — one of the suspects threw a pillowcase out of the vehicle, she said. Authorities recovered the pillowcase and found a laptop computer and jewelry in it.
The Ford Focus headed north on Imperial Highway, when the vehicle crossed into the southbound lane and collided with a Kia SUV at East Big Sky Lane, according to Sgt. Daron Wyatt.
The male driver of the suspect vehicle died at the scene. A male passenger sitting in the rear was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, and a female who was sitting in the front was transported for trauma, but she is expected to survive.
A female driver in the SUV was transported to a hospital for minor injuries. Imperial Highway was closed in both directions at Nohl Ranch Road while police investigate.
