Some sort of chemical odor sparked the evacuation Saturday of an office building in Aliso Viejo but no one was sickened by the smell, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
The chemical odor inside an office building at 31 Columbia was reported to the OCFA at 2:20 p.m., OCFA Capt. Steve Concialdi said.
“Someone pulled a fire alarm because of the smell and that prompted the evacuation of the office building,” Concialdi said.
Firefighters were not sure what caused the foul odor and a HazMat team was preparing to make entry into the building to figure out what the problem was, Concialdi said.
No injuries were reported.
The building houses a number of businesses including Neo Genomics Laboratories, according to an Internet search.
