Police Thursday arrested a 34-year-old woman suspected of snatching someone’s purse outside a store in Irvine, kicking the victim in the forehead when she resisted.
Jennifer Nicole Burner was arrested in Santa Ana, where she resides, according to Kim Mohr, public information officer with the Irvine Police Department.
The arrest was made after investigators received tips from the public following media accounts of the crime that included images of Burner allegedly using the victim’s credit cards, according to Kim Mohr, public information officer with the Irvine Police Department.
The victim had just parked her car about 6:20 p.m. on Feb. 8 in the parking lot of the Bed, Bath and Beyond store at 13692 Jamboree Road and was walking toward the entrance when the suspect approached from behind and grabbed her purse off her shoulder, Mohr said.
“The victim struggled in an attempt to keep her purse and fell to the ground,” Mohr said. “The struggle continued, and the suspect kicked the victim several times in the upper body and forehead.”
The suspect got the purse and fled in a black two-door sedan, Mohr said.
“Immediately following the robbery, the victim’s credit cards were used at Rite Aid locations in Costa Mesa and Fountain Valley,” Mohr said.
Burner was booked on suspicion of robbery, Mohr said.
