Fireworks sparked a brush fire near a condominium complex in Mission Viejo that burned a 50-foot-by-75-foot area of bushes, but caused no damage to the complex.
Firefighters responded to the 23000 block of Coso, near Marguerite Parkway, around 10:15 p.m. and quickly knocked down flames as they approached the Alta Finisterra Condominiums, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.
Investigators determined the cause of the fire was “due to aerial fireworks,” the OCFA said.
“As we head into the Fourth of July weekend, we would like to remind everyone that both legal & illegal fireworks are dangerous,” the OCFA said in a statement.
Damage to the bushes was estimated at $4,000. No injuries were reported.
