Two people were injured Tuesday, one critically, in an apartment fire in East Hollywood.
Firefighters sent to the two-story building in the 400 block of North Ardmore Avenue at 6:16 a.m. extinguished the flames in one unit on the upper floor in 24 minutes, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
“First arriving firefighters utilized a ground ladder to swiftly rescue an adult female trapped by flames at an upstairs window,” said Brian Humphrey of the LAFD.
The woman was taken to a hospital in unknown condition for treatment of unspecified injuries, Humphrey said.
“During fire attack, LAFD crews found and rescued another occupant … who was discovered pulseless and non-breathing,” Humphrey said.
That person, whose gender and age were not immediately known, was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
The cause of the fire was under investigation.
