A Santa Ana police officer involved in the pursuit of a fleeing suspect crashed his patrol car through a wrought iron fence Monday morning.
The pursuit began at 2:27 a.m. when an officer attempted a traffic stop for a vehicle code violation and the driver fled, said Santa Ana police Commander Andy Alvarez.
The patrol car crashed a short time later on McFadden Avenue just west of Bristol Street.
Other officers were in the pursuit and they continued, stopping the suspect about a half mile away, Alvarez said.
“The officer is OK. The fence is not,” he said.
