Some South Pasadena residents were urged Saturday to boil their water for drinking and cooking following a water main break.
The break occurred Friday and affected the Bilicke Pressure Zone around Monterey Road and Via del Rey, according to a map posted on the City Hall Scoop Blog.
“The State Water Resources Control Board, Division of Drinking Water, the Los Angeles County Health Department, and the city of South Pasadena Water Division are advising ONLY residents of South Pasadena Bilicke Pressure Zone (Los Altos/ Monterey Hills area) to only use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes as a safety precaution to avoid stomach or intestinal illness,” according to the statement accompanying the map.
Test samples have been delivered to a lab for testing and the city promised to inform residents of the results and when officials are certain the tap water is safe to drink.
“We anticipate resolving the problem within 24 hours,” they said. The city first reported the water main break just before 9 p.m. Friday.
