The Riverside County coroner’s office Saturday identified a 75-year-old driver who died when he apparently suffered a medical emergency and crashed into multiple parked vehicles and residences in Canyon Lake.

The crash happened about 8:15 p.m. Friday when a vehicle was heading east at a high speed on Canyon Lake Drive near Sloop Drive, according to the Riverside County Sheriff’s Department.

“The driver suffered an apparent medical emergency, and his vehicle left the roadway, colliding with the parked vehicles and residences,” the sheriff’s department said in a press release.

The Riverside County Fire Department said the vehicle landed on its side, trapping a person inside who suffered major injuries and had to be freed from the wreckage.

The person was taken to Inland Valley Medical Center where he died of his injuries and was later identified as Leroy Jensen, according to the coroner’s office.

Another person suffered minor injuries in the crash, authorities said.
