County public health officials Sunday urged anyone celebrating the Labor Day holiday to observe caution when gathering with others, including wearing a face covering whenever possible and practicing social distance.
A heat advisory will also be in place through 8 p.m. Monday for Riverside County valleys, with temperatures expected to be 10 degrees above average across the Inland Empire, reaching highs of 112 degrees in Palm Springs and 105 degrees in Riverside.
The March Field Air Museum will be open extended hours for Labor Day, featuring dozens of aircraft on display and multiple exhibits, with a range of artifacts from the first years of powered flight to the Space Age.
Those looking for outdoor recreation can visit Mt. San Jacinto State Park for hiking, mountain biking, camping and other activities. Although the National Weather Service urged anyone participating in strenuous activities outdoors to stay hydrated and avoid peak heat hours.
In the Coachella Valley, the Palm Springs Aerial Tramway will also operate during extended hours for Labor Day.
Meanwhile, the last day of Labor Day Weekend festivities at Agua Caliente Casino will feature live entertainment, free play giveaways and dining specials.
Schools, banks, post offices and all other government buildings will be closed on Monday.
Metrolink trains will operate on a Sunday schedule with $10 holiday tickets in observance of Labor Day.
However, Riverside Transit Agency buses will not operate Monday and service will resume on Tuesday.
