A person was killed Wednesday when an SUV rolled down an embankment on Interstate 15 at the northwest tip of Jurupa Valley.
The crash was reported at 9:06 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway at Philadelphia Avenue near the border of Riverside and San Bernardino counties, according to the California Highway Patrol.
When first responders arrived at the scene, they found a person unresponsive and bleeding in a Chevy Tahoe that had rolled down a 75-foot embankment, the CHP said. About 20 minutes later a team from the Riverside County coroner’s office was dispatched to the location.
A witness told the CHP there were multiple vehicles involved in the collision, and a brick flew up and hit the witness’ own vehicle right after the initial crash.
It was not immediately clear if anyone else was injured.
