The number of COVID-positive patients in Riverside County hospitals, including those in intensive care, has decreased, although 19 more COVID-related deaths were reported in the latest data.
The Riverside University Health System said COVID hospitalizations countywide were at 1,076 Thursday, down 33 from Wednesday’s numbers. That includes 154 ICU patients, down six from Wednesday.
The county’s 19 more COVID-related deaths since Wednesday brings its cumulative pandemic total to 5,706.
The fatalities are trailing indicators because of delays processing death certificates and can go back weeks, according to health officials.
Officials said the aggregate number of COVID cases recorded in the county since the pandemic began in March 2020 now stands at 432,101.
The number of known active virus cases in the county is 25,572. The active count is derived by subtracting deaths and recoveries from the current total — 432,101. Verified patient recoveries countywide are 400,823.
