The LA KISS will face the Arizona Rattlers Saturday night at Honda Center seeking to improve to 2-0 for the first time in their three seasons in the Arena Football League.
The team, whose owners include Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley of the rock band KISS, opened its season with a 64-39 victory over the Jacksonville Sharks last Saturday at Honda Center. The Rattlers defeated the Portland Steel, 80-28, in their season opener April 1.
Both teams had players receive weekly awards for their play last week.
KISS receiver Donovan Morgan was honored for making the catch of the week, grabbing an 11-yard pass from Nathan Stanley in the first quarter, the 250th touchdown reception of his AFL career.
Arizona defensive ends Damien Borle and Luis Vasquez were the co- Defensive Players of the Week, each making two sacks, forcing a fumble and recovering a fumble.
The KISS are 0-5 against the Rattlers, including 68-30, 49-43 and 68-55 losses last season. Arizona quarterback Nick Davila, a former standout at Damien High School in La Verne, has thrown 33 touchdown passes and had two passes intercepted against the KISS.
The game will begin shortly after 8 p.m. and be televised by ESPN2.
