Seven young women were named Tuesday members of the 2017 Tournament of Roses Royal Court, which will attend dozens of events leading up to the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl Game.
One of the seven princesses named Tuesday will be chosen Rose Queen. That announcement is scheduled for Oct. 20.
The members of the Royal Court are:
— Maya Khan, 18, Arcadia High School;
— Victoria Castellanos, 17, Temple City High School;
— Natalie Petrosian, 17, La Canada High School;
— Audrey Cameron, 17, Blair High School;
— Autumn Lundy, 17, Polytechnic School;
— Lauren Powers, 17, Arcadia High School; and
— Shannon Larsuel, 17, Mayfield Senior School.
“The 2017 Royal Court consists of seven extraordinary young women who are now ambassadors for America’s New Year Celebration,” said Richard De Jesu, chairman of the Tournament of Roses Queen and Court Committee. “Starting today, and through Jan. 2, the Royal Court will participate in numerous events that will be treasured memories for the rest of their lives.”
The princesses were chosen from among more than 1,000 teens and young women who applied. According to the Tournament of Roses, they will attend more than 100 media and community events leading up to the Jan. 2 parade and football game. The theme of the parade will be “Echoes of Success.”
The game and parade will be held Jan. 2, because Jan. 1 falls on a Sunday.
