It’ll be a tearful, happy moment Sunday as a 6-year-old leukemia survivor throws out the honorary first pitch to get the game started.

It comes as the Los Angeles Dodgers will conduct their annual Little Dodger Fan Day and their first Car Club Night, and the Dodgers will be playing against the San Francisco Giants at Dodger Stadium.

That honorary first pitch will be thrown by 6-year-old, third-generation Dodger fan Elysa Shapiro, who will be making her first trip to Dodger Stadium and is being treated for leukemia at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.

Elysa was diagnosed with leukemia last July and would be hospitalized for more than one month. A day after she was hospitalized, Dodger pitching star Clayton Kershaw visited the hospital and spent time with Elysa.

“The light that gave us was a godsend of positive energy,” Elysa’s father Howard Shapiro said.

A few weeks later, Elysa was visited by her very favorite player, outfielder Kike Hernandez, who joined outfielder Joc Pederson, in coaxing Elysa from her room for her first walk in the hospital.

Elysa is extremely excited for her trip to Dodger Stadium, her mother Nancy said, calling it “a dream come true and the absolute perfect pick-me-up for our entire family.”

The Viva Los Dodgers family friendly festival  will celebrate the Los Angeles area’s rich and historical car culture. Outfielder Andre Ethier will judge four classes of cars — classic, sport, lowrider and muscle — and award winners for the best in show and the best in class.

Viva Los Dodgers will begin at 3 p.m. at Dodger Stadium’s 76 station. It will be held at the last Sunday home game of each month through August. It celebrates Latino culture in Los Angeles and the legacy of Latino Dodger players. Admission is free with a game ticket. All Dodger fans are welcome.

Viva Los Dodgers will culminate with La Gran Fiesta Viva Los Dodgers on Sept. 23.

In connection with Car Club Night, the Dodgers are inviting car enthusiasts to display their cars in Preferred Parking Lot H. The team is offering a special ticket package which includes a Dodger Stadium Car Club T- shirt and a special link in their confirmation email to purchase discounted preferred parking for $35 in advance.

The ticket package is available at Dodgers.com/CarClub.
