
More than 5,000 athletes raised more than $1.4 million at the 31st annual Nautica Malibu Triathlon Sunday, with competitors under cloudy and cool skies swimming a half mile, running four miles and biking 17-1/2 miles from Zuma Beach.
Alexander Romanenko triumphed as the overall winner of the triathlon, finishing the half-mile swim, 17-mile bike ride and four mile run in one hour, 12 minutes and 14 seconds, according to Traithlon organizers.
Sophie Chase won the female division with a time of 1:20:20.
The celebrity division was won by actress Heather Tom, at 1:36:35. That was faster than the fastest male, Conrad Ricamore, who came in first at 1:42:08.
The winning co-ed celebrity relay team was Team For The Kids, at 1:23:51. Organizers said other stars who competed in the celebrity division included Zac Efron, James Marsden, Luke Hemsworth, Karla Souza, Jack Falahee, Beverly Mitchell and others.
