CSUN will hold its Military Appreciation Game for Friday evening’s men’s basketball season opener, with all veterans and active service members with military identification receiving free admission along with one guest.

A party preceding the 7:30 p.m. game against Life Pacific will be held at The Matadome Spirit Plaza with music, free food and giveaways. The first 300 fans will receive a CSUN basketball camouflage T-shirt.

A military appreciation VIP reception will be held for veterans in the Athletics Conference Room adjacent to the Matador Spirit Plaza at 6 p.m. Veterans interested in attending must register at the CSUN Veterans Resource Center website, www.csun.edu/vrc.

The Military Appreciation Game is part of CSUN’s weeklong “We Love Our Veterans Week Celebration” which also included the men’s basketball team serving dinner to veterans on Tuesday.

The Matadors were 11-19 last season, finishing sixth in the Big West Conference with a 7-9 record in conference play. CSUN was predicted to finish seventh in the media preseason poll.

San Dimas-based Life Pacific, an NAIA school, is off to a 3-1 start after going 20-9 last season and finishing seventh in the National Christian College Athletic Association Tournament.
