The Los Angeles Kings announced Monday they will reopen at the Promenade on the Peninsula in Rolling Hills Estates.
The Los Angeles Kings and American Sports Entertainment Company said in a statement that it will be re-branded as the LA Kings Ice at Promenade on the Peninsula after the remodel. The rink will open Sept. 7.
Promenade on the Peninsula is located on the northern side of Palos Verdes. The venue was closed Sept. 16, 2020 due to the pandemic. Since 1981, the rink has served as a destination in figure skating and hockey.
“For close to 40 years, this facility was a tremendous community cornerstone and we are excited to work with our partners to re-engage families here and return to the ice,” said ASEC President Brad Berman. “We believe LA Kings Ice at Promenade on the Peninsula will be a long-term, sustainable ice and entertainment center.”
After signing a lease on Aug. 1, ASEC and the Kings began renovations to the arena, including technology system upgrades, interior and exterior branding, repairs to the skating infrastructure, installation of a new scoreboard, and a skate rental service forthcoming.
Kings President and Hockey Hall of Famer Luc Robitaille said, “We are committed to inspiring future generations of athletes. Today’s announcement and next month’s reopening are critical steps to continuing and expanding upon our mission.”
