A Monterey Park police dog named Robin will get a ballistic vest thanks to the efforts of a nonprofit foundation, it was announced today.
Another Monterey Park police dog named Veeda got a vest in May, according to Sgt. Gus Jimenez. The nonprofit organization that provided the $950 vests, which protect police dogs from shootings and stabbings, is called the Animal Health Foundation based in the Orange County city of Lake Forest, Jimenez said.
Almost 1,400 law enforcement dogs across the country have been outfitted with the vests manufactured by Michigan-based Armor Express.
