Taylor Swift announced Friday she is scrubbing all of her upcoming concert tour dates, including her scheduled venue-opening performance at the new SoFi Stadium in Inglewood being built for the Rams and Chargers.
Swift had been scheduled to perform at the under-construction stadium on July 25.
“I’m so sad I won’t be able to see you guys in concern this year, but I know this is the right decision,” Swift told her fans in a social media post. “Please, please stay health and safe. I’ll see you on stage as soon as I can but right now what’s important is committing to this quarantine, for the sake of all of us.”
Swift canceled all of her planned concerts for the rest of the year.
According to the formal announcement, her U.S. and Brazil shows will be rescheduled for next year. Tickets purchased for the original show dates will be honored on the new date, however, fans can obtain refunds if they desire.
The coronavirus pandemic has cast doubt on the opening of the $5 billion SoFi Stadium — which will be home to the Rams and Chargers. Rams Chief Operating Officer Kevin Demoff told the Los Angeles Times earlier this month he was optimistic the stadium will be finished in time for the upcoming NFL season, although it remains uncertain if the season will even be held.
