An 83-year-old pedestrian was killed Monday when he was struck by a Ford Mustang in Desert Hot Springs.
The Desert Hot Springs resident was “within the lanes of traffic” when the Mustang hit him about 7 a.m. on Dillon Road, east of Corkill Road, according to California Highway Patrol Officer Jackie Quintero.
The octogenarian, whose name was not immediately released, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Alcohol or drugs do not appear to be factors, according to the CHP, which asked any witnesses to call Officer Gonzalez at 760-772-5300.
