Five people were injured, one seriously, in a two-vehicle wreck Tuesday at a Jurupa Valley intersection, where firefighters had to extricate several of the victims.
The crash was reported about 12:15 p.m. at Mission Boulevard and Wallace Street, according to the Riverside County Fire Department.
The agency said that multiple engine crews were sent to the location and found the two vehicles a crumpled mass, with two occupants of one car unable to get out.
There was no immediate word on the circumstances behind the crash.
Firefighters deployed industrial saws and other gear to free the parties, one of whom had life-threatening injuries and was rushed to Riverside Community Hospital, according to officials at the scene.
Another victim suffered moderate injuries, and the remaining three had minor injuries. All were taken to Riverside University Medical Center in Moreno Valley for treatment, officials said.
Sheriff’s deputies partially closed the intersection while firefighters worked and a preliminary investigation was conducted to determine a possible cause of the wreck.
