The South Coast Air Quality Management District predicted air quality will be in the range of good to unhealthful for sensitive groups Thursday amid the heat wave.
The overall index at noon was 59, which is considered “moderate” and means that unusually sensitive people should consider limiting prolonged outdoor exertion.
In parts of the Inland Empire — including the Riverside Valley, Lake Elsinore and the San Bernardino mountains — the index was expected to exceed 100, which is the level at which air is unhealthful for sensitive groups.
The district’s forecasts are available online in the form of an interactive map.
