It’s almost beach weather Wednesday as downtown Los Angeles high temperatures and other inland areas are expected to top out close to 80.

Despite daytime highs of 77 inland and 75 at the beaches, keep your coat on at night: temperatures will continue to dip into the 40s for most of the Southland the rest of the week.

And there’s good news ahead: While highs will only be about 70 for Friday, it’ll remain in the mid to high 70s through the upcoming weekend, according to The National Weather Service.

Wednesday night it will be partly cloudy. Lows in the mid 40s to mid 50s.

The forecast for Thursday calls for partly cloudy skies. Highs in the upper 60s to mid 70s.

In Coastal Orange County the forecast for Wednesday calls for mostly sunny skies. Highs 72 to 77.

Wednesday night it will be mostly clear. Lows 46 to 52.

Thursday it will mostly sunny in the morning, then becoming partly cloudy. Highs 69 to 74.

The ultraviolet index level in the Los Angeles area for Wednesday is a low 3, according to the weather service. A reading of 3-4 is considered a low exposure level, reducing the danger range for those with fair complexions to 15-20 minutes if not protected.
