A 5-year-old mare died Wednesday while training at Santa Anita Park, the fourth such fatality at the Arcadia track this year.
Cerulean had 10 races and two first-place finishes in her career, including a win in her last race at Tampa Bay, according to the industry website Equibase. She had not yet raced in California.
The California Horse Racing Board said Cerulean suffered a sudden death Wednesday, and listed her injury under the “non-musculoskeletal” category. No further information was immediately available.
