The rock band Journey sued Monster Products Friday for allegedly failing to pay them $500,000 to play at the Planet Hollywood Resort & Casino in Las Vegas in January in connection with the Consumer Electronics Show.
The San Francisco-born group filed the suit in Los Angeles Superior Court, alleging breach of contract by the audio/visual components company.
A Monster Products representative could not be immediately reached for comment.
The suit states that both sides reached an agreement in October 2015 for Journey to perform on Jan. 7 with a $500,000 guarantee. However, a Monster Products executive called a Creative Artists Agency representative for Journey in November stating that the website did not have the money “that they planned on having,” the suit states.
All the CAA representative received was Monster Products’s apologies, according to the lawsuit.
The suit seeks $500,000, plus interest.
