A 23-year-old man wanted for assaulting his girlfriend led police on a vehicle chase in El Monte on Saturday, which ended when the stolen car crashed into a tree, a police sergeant said Sunday.
At 7:53 p.m. Saturday, an El Monte police officer spotted Cesar Antonio Bobadilla driving a black 1995 Acura Integra north on Parkway Drive, at Elliot Avenue, said El Monte police Sgt. Richard Luna.
The officer tried to pull over Bobadilla, who then sped away. The chase went into Baldwin Park, where Bobadilla lost control of the car and crashed into a tree at the intersection of Los Angeles Street and Bresee Avenue, Luna said.
Bobadilla ran away and was arrested a short time later in the rear yard of a home in the 13900 block of Belgate Street, he said.
Paramedics transported him to Los Angeles County/USC Medical Center for non-life threatening injuries. He was arrested on suspicion of unlawfully taking a vehicle, evading a police officer and corporal injury on a spouse or cohabitant.
On April 16, Bobadilla allegedly committed a domestic battery on his girlfriend and fled the scene, Luna said.
